2. THE DESIGN PROCESS
Joy, came to us with three diamonds, a 0.63ct fancy diamond and two 0.12ct diamonds. She wanted a custom designed ring that she could wear on a daily basis. The first step of our bespoke design process always starts on a piece of paper. At FEGJ, we aim to keep the tradition of hand-drawing and hand crafting jewellery. The design she chose involved the prong setting of the center diamond to sit under two smaller diamonds set in a tube bezel. Delicate decorative leaves decorate the shank of the ring, the concept design inspired by European architectural motif, which acts as a building support holding the center diamonds in place.
Her 0.63ct fancy coloured diamond have very interesting colours, gray, yellow, green and pink. At different perspectives you see a tinge of each of the colour. While colourless diamonds are timeless and a symbol of glamour, coloured diamonds are now soaring in popularity for their various shades of colour. We also refer to them as “fancy coloured” diamonds.
3. THE TECHNICAL PROCESS
The next step upon the confirmation of a hand-sketched selected design is the selection of material and the type of finish. When customer is indecisive of the choice of metal colour, we render the designs in different colours to offer a better visualization of the final piece. Once a technical drawing of 1:1 scale of the design is made, this is when our master craftsman proceeds in making the piece. Our meticulous creative process allows us to create fine details of art that are unique yet original.
